Helvetica Screening & Discussion

Saturday, 6 December 2008 - 5:00pm

5:00 p.m.
SIFF Cinema
321 Mercer Street (McCaw Hall)
Seattle, WA 98109

Join KCTS 9 and Community Cinema Seattle for a special community screening of Helvetica and join our discussion afterwards with local designers and artists.

The typeface Helvetica is ubiquitous, spelling out everything from IRS tax forms to the corporate logos of Target, Crate & Barrel and Fendi. In HELVETICA, first-time Director Gary Hustwit sets out and explores urban spaces, the typefaces that inhabit them and speaks with historians and designers about the choices and aesthetics behind the use of fonts.

Community Cinema Seattle is presented by KCTS 9, KBCS 91.3 FM Community Radio, The City of Seattle Office for Civil Rights, the Seattle International Film Festival, and the Independent Television Service. This event is free and no RSVP is required. SIFF Cinema is located in the Nelsholm Family Lecture Hall on the lower level of Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center in the heart of Seattle's theatre district.
